Winter Fun On Ice -Rink on the River:

Light & Color:
9/23-12/31; Visitors are invited to view the amazing life-like holograms; split white light into a rainbow of colors & view their reflections from some rather odd angles. There are nineteen fascinating exhibits in all, covering topics from light refraction to florescence to color blindness. The Gift of Lights:
11/21–1/4/04; 5-9pm, Mon.-Thurs. & 5-10pm, Fri.-Sun.; drive through a mile long path in Idlewild Park to see over 100 exciting animated & twinkling holiday light displays, including the spectacular “Tunnel of Lights” with over 250,000 lights. Scene after scene will come to life with a special holiday display. $10/per vehicle, $1/per passenger-buses (minimum $10). It is estimated that it will take approximately 20 minutes to drive through the display. The event will be open wind, snow or shine! Reno. 329-0474

Squaw Valley Festival Of Lights:
12/6-1/1; Meander through Squaw Valley's base village & enjoy the peaceful ambiance of winter in the mountains, shop, dine & enjoy the spirit of the holidays as Squaw Valley sparkles with decorations & cheerful activities. Galena Creek "Winter Funderland":

Galena Creek Park Snow Play Hill:
Sledding & tubing are perfect winter family fun! Call to check snow conditions on our supervised Snow Play Hill or smaller "Kiddie Hill" for approx. 2-7yrs. Located inside the park's south entrance off the Mt. Rose Highway, about 6-7 miles west of the junction of U.S. 395 & State Route 431/Mt. Rose Hwy. The Nevada Stamp Study Society Junior Program:

Project Santa Claus-Douglas County:
Each year Project Santa Claus provides children of needy families in Douglas County with a little Christmas joy in the form of new presents. Project Santa Claus is assisted by the Kiwanis Club of Gardnerville & Minden, who year-round collect used, repairable ONLY; bicycles, scooters, tricycles & wagons. They are then refurbished & donated to the project. Clothing barrels are placed in a number of businesses in the community for the collection of good condition ONLY; winter clothing for all ages. Toddler Rhythm & Tunes:

Some children in the Douglas County elementary & middle schools can't afford all the personal materials they need for their school work & special projects. This program will provide materials to the teachers so they can confidentially provide these materials to students in need.
